Karen Boyd stepped in to represent Connor Woods, one of a group of high school students, when the Fort Brag Unified School District banned players and attendees to a basketball tournament from wearing “I can’t breathe” t-shirts to protest police actions in the death of Eric Garner. Representing Mr. Woods pro bono, Turner Boyd was only minutes away from filing a complaint and request for temporary restraining order in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California when the FBUSD agreed to allow the t-shirts to be worn.
